What Is All-on-X?
Understanding the basics
All-on-X replaces an entire upper or lower arch with a fixed full-arch prosthesis supported by implants. Both arches can be treated when appropriate. The “X” refers to the number of implants, often four to six per arch, chosen for your anatomy and treatment plan. The prosthesis stays in place for daily use; your dental team can remove it when needed. Temporary teeth are followed by a final prosthesis after healing.

The All-on-X Process
Temporary and final teeth have different timelines
Consultation and 3D Scan
We review your oral health and medical history, assess your bone with 3D imaging when appropriate, and discuss your goals. We explain your options, likely timeline, and treatment estimate.
Surgery Day
On surgery day, any planned extractions are completed and the implants are placed. After surgery, you go home with your escort to rest while the dental laboratory prepares your temporary teeth.
Next-day temporary teeth may be possible for suitable patients. Implant stability, your clinical needs, and the agreed laboratory schedule determine the timing.
Creating the temporary teeth takes several hours. We discuss the planned timing before surgery, including what to expect if immediate fixed teeth are not suitable.Healing
Healing usually takes several months. During this time, you wear your temporary teeth, follow a soft-food plan, and attend progress checks. Your individual timeline may vary.
Final Prosthesis
Once healing is sufficient, we fit your final prosthesis, check the bite, and explain its cleaning and maintenance needs.
Cost
What does All-on-X cost?
Cost depends on your treatment needs and final prosthesis material. We provide a written treatment estimate and explain what is included. Ask about any additional procedures, ongoing maintenance, and repair costs when comparing options. Cherry financing is coming soon. Ask our team which payment options are currently available.
Life Afterward
Caring for your new smile
Brush daily and clean beneath the prosthesis using the methods and tools we recommend. Regular maintenance visits allow us to check the implants, surrounding tissues, and prosthesis. The replacement teeth cannot develop decay, but tissue inflammation, wear, and mechanical problems still need attention.
A few common questions
Common questions about All-on-X
Is the surgery painful?
We use local anesthetic to numb the treatment area, and discuss the comfort options available for your treatment. IV conscious sedation may be appropriate after a health review and discussion of preparation and recovery. Recovery varies; we explain expected soreness and swelling, pain relief, and when to contact us.
How fast can I eat normally?
You’ll follow a soft-food plan during healing. After the final prosthesis is fitted, we explain which foods you can reintroduce and any precautions for protecting it.
What if I already wear dentures?
All-on-X may be an option. We assess your bone, oral health, and medical history, then explain whether fixed treatment is suitable and whether additional procedures would be needed.
