Keep your digital ID card handy
Your Principal account or mobile app can provide a dental ID card, benefit summary and claim information, including your Explanation of Benefits. A paper card may not list each dependent's name; check your online coverage information if you need to confirm a family member.
Use the network shown on your card
Principal's dentist search asks for your ZIP code and, when needed, your dental network. Find the network on your ID card, then search by dentist name or specialty. Principal recommends confirming that the specific dentist and location still participate on the date of your visit.
Review an estimate before larger treatments
Principal allows dental offices to submit a predetermination for proposed treatment. Ask about this when planning larger procedures, and review your plan's deductible, remaining maximum and service limits with the office. A predetermination is an estimate, so current eligibility and benefits still need to be checked.
